Deutsche Bank obtained a full commercial banking license in mid-1995, after operating as an Offshore Banking Unit (OBU) in Manila since 1977. Today, the Deutsche Bank Group in the Philippines consists of joint venture Deutsche Regis Partners and subsidiary Deutsche Knowledge Services; and employs over 2,000 staff in the country.
Deutsche Knowledge Services (DKS) is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, registered with the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission as a Regional Operating Headquarters (ROHQ) in April 2005. DKS is Deutsche Bank's primary global shared service centre for Controlling, providing accounting, reporting, and reconciliation and risk control services.
With Euro 993 billion in assets and 63,427 employees, Deutsche Bank ranks among the global leaders in corporate banking and securities, transaction banking, asset management, and private wealth management, and has a significant private and business banking franchise in Germany and other selected countries in Continental Europe. DKS set up its ROHQ in the Philippines to tap into the significant potential offered by the country as a global centre of excellence. DKS believes that the Philippines offers a number of significant advantages, in particular, the high quality of local graduates who are proficient in English, American accounting practices and International Reporting Standards. Locally, DKS is managed by an expert team of 13 executives, who collectively hold over 190 years of professional experience, and currently employs over 200 business and economics graduates and CPA qualified professionals.
The business aims to build its presence significantly over the coming years by increasing the number of its employees and exploring further opportunities to broaden its service offering in the Philippines. DKS also has an office in Bangalore which primarily supports cash operations and related functions.
